Nanda Valdez

Gallery Supervisor

Nanda first joined the Migration Museum through a work placement, during her BA in English Literature and Creative Writing at Goldsmiths University. The experience sparked her interest in museum research. Following research work ensuring Black wellbeing in the gallery space for the Maritime Museum, she graduated with an MA in Social Anthropology from Goldsmiths.

Nanda is an artisan and researcher. Her passion lies in preserving Black history, which she expresses through clay jewellery that combines material culture practices and Black feminist theory. Through folk art and an anti-racist focus, she aims to improve understanding of the Black diaspora within the heritage sector.
