Call Out: Interactive Display Designer for our education and event space

The Migration Museum is looking for an interactive display designer to help us create two interactive displays for our education and events space.

Working with the museum’s learning team, you will design and oversee fabrication of two interactive displays – a migration timeline and a world map – to be used by thousands of students and visitors from September 2024 onwards.

These displays should be both visually attractive, providing a backdrop for education visits, events and venue hires; and stimulating, helping staff prompt discussions and highlight the vast migration history of the UK.

Both interactives should be physical as opposed to digital displays.

We will need the designer to:

  • Work with the museum’s learning team to incorporate our learning pedagogy into the design of the map and timeline
  • Design the style and user experience of the map and timeline – with both looking coherent and in-line with the rest of the museum
  • Design durable interactive elements that can withstand use by thousands of people over a number of years
  • Identify and liaise with a fabricator to produce the two pieces, including providing scale drawings and design files

The successful applicant will be paid a design fee of up to £2.5K. There will also be a budget of up to £3.5k to cover fabrication costs.
