Lunar New Year Family Festival
Lunar New Year Family Festival
Sat 21-Sun 22 February 2026 | 10.30am – 4.30pm
London Museum Docklands
Free – no booking needed
Gallop into the Year of the Horse in this weekend-long family festival just a stone’s throw away from London’s original Chinatown in Limehouse.
To mark Lunar New Year we are joining the London Museum, with hands-on activities for all ages, including:
Feast! – Our creative, food-themed workshop invites you to draw your dream Lunar New Year dinner on a shared communal table, as it transforms into a colourful celebration of culture and community. We can’t wait to hear all about your family traditions, recipes passed down through generations, and migration stories. You’ll even have the chance to add your take on beloved recipes to our archival Room To Breathe recipe book.
Story Sharing – Become part of a unique, user-generated display capturing the life stories of migrants. Add your own story to our archive, contributing to a growing collection that will be a cornerstone of the Migration Museum’s permanent home in the City of London in 2028.
All our activities are drop-in, with no booking required — just come along and join in.
The full programme also features classic Chinese folktales, tasty tangyuan-making, exploring traditional Vietnamese fashion, mastering your martial arts moves, and much more. Highlights include lion dances, a silent disco, ribbon dance workshops, a chill-out games space, and hands-on crafts, making it a perfect family-friendly weekend to introduce little ones to the rich traditions of Lunar New Year.
