Join the Migration Museum’s People’s Panel

As we prepare to open our new permanent home in the City of London, we’re recruiting 30 community-minded individuals to shape the future of the Migration Museum – including what stories we collect, what events we run, and how our spaces look and feel.
This project has three key strands
- Migration Stories – training members to document and preserve migration stories from their communities, to form part of our collection.
- Events – developing an events strategy and experimenting with a co-produced programme of events.
- Permanent Home – shaping our visitor experience strategy, food and drink offer, and spatial design of the permanent home.
Who we’re looking for
This opportunity is open to anyone who has a connection to Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, or the City of London through living, studying, working or organising locally.
You don’t need to be a museum professional. We’re looking for people who are:
- Community-minded
- Passionate about representation and inclusion
- Interested in shaping a national museum that reflects all our stories
- From a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and lived experiences
Previous People’s Panel members from our Lewisham pilot project are encouraged to apply – but so are people who’ve never worked with us before.
Payment
Panel members will receive:
- £50 per workshop (via invoice, bank transfer or voucher)
- £15 per hour for approved work outside of workshops, including story collection and events co-production
Please note: people seeking asylum are invited to join the People’s Panel. We welcome discussions on how reimbursement can be structured to meet all regulatory requirements.
