Take Part
The Migration Museum will be opening at our new permanent home in the City of London in 2028.
While we do not currently have a venue open to the public, there are many ways you can engage with us, whether in-person at external events, community and learning sessions, or online.
See below for more details on how you can get involved.
And sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear about our upcoming events, activities, news and developments on our journey to create Britain’s missing museum.
Ways to take part
Events
We’re hosting a varied programme of external events across London and beyond in 2026/7, from pop-ups and collaborations to walking tours and more.

Learning
Our award-winning learning team is continuing their work through outreach, assemblies, online visits and walking tours.
Please get in touch with our Learning Manager Tia (tia@migrationmuseum.org) to enquire about booking a learning engagement. We deliver workshops for Upper Key Stage 2 – Key Stage 5, as well as talks for university students.

Local engagement and participation
The Migration Museum’s permanent home opens its doors in the City of London in 2028 – and there are plenty of ways to get involved ahead of our launch.
Through our local activities, we bring people together to explore and share their experiences of Britain’s migration story. Our local engagement and participation aims to document and preserve contemporary migration stories – you can find out more about our story collecting process here.
Whether you’re a grassroots collective or an established organisation, we want to connect with you. We are especially interested in working with community groups based in the City of London, Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, and surrounding London boroughs through outreach visits and collaborative events. We are also working with our People’s Panel, a group of community-minded people with connections to the City of London, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets, to shape our future plans.

Migration Network
The Migration Network is a dynamic, knowledge-sharing initiative uniting museums, heritage organisations, charities, academics, and other professionals across the UK and beyond.
Convened by the Migration Museum, the Network provides a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices in exploring migration and its impact on society. Our plans are coming together for 2026 online and in-person events and we would love you to join us.

National Community Curators
We are working with five partner institutions across the UK to develop a national community curators programme. This project aims to bring the diverse voices, lived experiences, and regional perspectives around migration into focus, informing the Migration Museum’s displays in our future home. Please contact Head of Civic Engagement Mona Jamil on mona@migrationmuseum.org to find out more.
Private walking tours
Discover the migration stories woven into London’s streets with your team or group. It’s a great way to spark meaningful conversations and share your own migration stories. Learn more here or email partnerships@migrationmuseum.com with your group size and preferred dates – and we’ll get back to you to arrange your tour.
