Take part in a unique wellbeing session, and enjoy a morning yoga session accompanied by live tabla, a well-known Indian classical instrument. This session will weave together slow, steady and flowing yoga sequences, breathing exercises and the awakening beats of the tabla. This carefully crafted fusion of rhythm and movement will leave you feeling grounded, energised and connected with your inner strength.

This experience will be brought to you by Parmjit Sagoo and Mendi Singh.

This experience is part of the events programme for Heart of The Nation, our touring exhibition which celebrates the 75th year of the NHS and highlights how migration has shaped the NHS during this time, created by the Migration Museum and currently exhibiting at Leicester Museum.

After the yoga and live music session, there will be a free healthy breakfast available and a chance to see the exhibition.

Parmjit Sagoo is a highly experienced Yoga Practitioner, and Creative Producer. She has worked across a range of community, health and arts settings, and is passionate about making yoga an inclusive and welcoming experience. Her yoga practice often combines yoga, live music and poetry to create unique and creative wellbeing projects.

Mendi Mohinder Singh started learning the tabla drum from the age of 3 years old and is now an internationally renowned tabla player, whose career spans over three decades. Mendi performs nationally and internationally as a percussionist and has collaborated with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Darius Brubeck, Anada Shankar, Shalil Shankar and Malkit Singh MBE, Nitin Sawhney, Courtney Pine and Take That.

The session is suitable for ages 16+. Please bring your own yoga mat. If you don’t have a yoga mat and need to borrow one, please let us know in advance and we will provide one.

This event is free to all NHS and health care providers – we ask for a donation from all others.
