My parents bought this dress ten years ago for my daughter to wear at Newroz, our New Year celebration on March 21st, the first day of spring. There’s special food, fireworks, dancing, singing, and poetry recitations. Spring flowers are cut and new clothes are worn. This dress comes from Hawler in Kurdish Iraq. I love it because it reminds me of my country and happy times when we celebrate together.
