Music and dance inspired by the stories of refugees and migrants in the UK.

The Migration Museum Project, Mixed Up Chorus and 3FF, in conjunction with the Guildhall School’s Electronic Music department, present an evening of music featuring world premieres of two new song cycles by the Mixed Up Chorus and Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus.

Conducted by Jeremy Haneman and accompanied by Michalis Angelakis.

The Mixed Up Chorus will be performing Singing Our Lives, a newly commissioned choral song cycle illuminating the stories and experiences of migrants and refugees living in the UK today. It is written by composer Mike Roberts and librettist Sarah Grange, in collaboration with refugee and migrant groups and choirs across London.

The Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus will be premiering a new Royal Opera House commission by composer John Barber and librettist Hazel Gould, with baritone soloist James Oldfield.

The evening will also feature guest performances by award-winning hip hop dance company Blue Boy Entertainment and the Sing for Freedom Choir, conducted by Matthew Watts.

In aid of Freedom From Torture and IOM Refugee Assistance.

The event is free but registration is required.
