Andy Thornton

Andy Thornton was the chief executive of the Citizenship Foundation from 2010 to 2016, after being director of programmes for many years. He founded ‘Giving Nation’ – a national programme to develop young people’s understanding of and commitment to charitable giving in 2002, as part of the Giving Campaign. Before that he ran Greenbelt – a national arts and social action festival. Andy worked regularly with the British Council in Asia on their Active Citizens programme and takes a keen interest in the relationship between diversity, dialogue and citizenship: one aspect of the Citizenship Foundation’s wider work.
