St Calogero is the black 5th century hermit saint who is venerated in Naro near Agrigento in Sicily, every year his feast day is celebrated there with a spectacular 10 day festival. The Sicillians in this photograph have brought the cult of their black patron saint to their new home, they’re proudly reaffirming their identity and their links with family and community back home.
